Magnetic harmonic gears (MHG) are studied because they have high torque density and large transmission torque. They are structured with an inner, a centre and an outer part. The inner and the outer consist of magnets. The centre consists of the pole pieces, their role being to modulate magnetic flux. In this paper the authors study an MHG with a stackable structure and which uses a Halbach array. This proposed magnetic gear has two types of layer. The transmission torque can be adjusted by changing the number of stacks. The purpose of this study is to consider the conditions that can produce better transmission torque by comparing the dynamic characteristics of two prototypes with different pole pairs.

Keywords: reduction ratio, step-out torque
