Cereulide-a valinomycin-like peptide-contained in commercial beverages constitutes a public health hazard

Cereulide is a valinomycin-like peptide that has been found in the beverage Coca Cola. Given cereulide's toxicity-greater than that of valinomycin-it is proposed that it is responsible for the recent spate of teenagers attending discotheques and suspected of suffering from heart failure.
